WHY SOMATICS?

Touch is the body’s first language. When we work with touch and the body, we communicate at the level where our earliest imprints were formed and we meet the body’s stories in the present moment.

Somatics engages the body with gentle inquiry, listening through sensation, imagery and emotion. We co-create a safe and supportive relational space where we invite the body’s messages into awareness with curiosity and care.

My work is rooted in an approach that centers body-mind awareness, connection to self, and early developmental repair called NeuroAffective Touch. I weave this approach together with other trauma-informed body-based therapies from my decades long study.

Our work together is always collaborative, encouraging your own agency and wisdom to inform each session.

Session FAQ's

WHY IS THIS WORK SO EFFECTIVE?

Our early experiences lay the groundwork for our relational life. When our needs weren’t met or if there were relational ruptures or violations, we often had to disconnect from parts of ourselves.

These experiences often live on in our bodies, quietly shaping how we relate to ourselves and the world. By gently exploring our bodies with a somatic lens within a safe, supportive relational field, we begin to rebuild a deeper connection to ourselves and reweave these cut-off parts.

Attending to our bodies with attuned, caring touch creates the possibility of experiencing true safety, not as an idea, but as something felt in the body. By working this way, we interrupt the loops that keep us stuck in the past and find ourselves more easily able to access an embodied present. This changes everything.

SOMATIC TOUCH MAY HELP YOU

  • Invite your body to communicate her story and release holding patterns that may no longer serve you

  • Shift your nervous system from chronic stress, freeze or fawn responses and explore more settled and centered states

  • Gently unwind the patterns of unmet emotional needs and lack of nurturing touch implicitly stored in the body

  • Release what’s been held in your body. Sadness, grief, fear can be met and softened in safety

  • Open up new ways of seeing and experiencing yourself and others

  • Reconnect to your needs and restore a sense of self and vitality

  • Grow a clearer sense of trust in safe connection

  • Experience nurturing and attuned touch that supports healing and repair

  • Feel grounded, embodied and connected to the here and now

Who I work with?

I work with women who are interested in learning and deepening their ability to speak the language of the body.

I am inspired by what our communities would look and feel like if we as women were to tap into the flow, inner-strength and connection that is our birthright.   The systems are set up to keep us wounded, stuck, distracted, small — connecting with ourselves, our bodies, is a revolutionary act. More than ever, we need our unique wisdom and energy to emerge at this time.  My commitment is to support this emergence.

While our culture privileges the mind over the body, this work encourages a collaboration between the two.
